The Committee is to monitor and keep legislators informed of changes in federal policies, funding, and regulations. This oversight will enable the General Assembly to respond quickly to safeguard the interests of Maryland and its residents.

Twenty-six members constitute the Committee. Of these, twelve are appointed by the Senate President, and twelve by the House Speaker. The Senate President and House Speaker co-chair the Committee.
